The type of travel I enjoy most is cultural travel. It includes sightseeing, recreation, great food, but especially close contact with the local people. Throughout the world the concept of community tourism is developing, a type of tourism in which visitors get the chance to interact with the locals and get authentic experiences of the culture. It helps the local communities and gives the visitor a more satisfying experience. I've enjoyed doing this and now promote similar travel opportunities to Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Places I've visited are highlighted on the Google Map on this page (see below) Click on a marker to learn more about each location. You can also zoom in or out to change the amount of detail shown on the map.
Approaching Culebra from the main island of Puerto Rico
About myself
I'm a native of Philadelphia. I started traveling seriously in 1979, when I studied for a semester in Mexico. In 1980 I studied in Bogotá, Colombia and eventually married a Colombian. We speak Spanish to each other at home and our two kids speak Spanish as well. We've been back to Colombia many times, but I have also traveled to Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands on my own and have grown fond of the people and the culture. I love the scenery and the beaches in tropical destinations, but it doesn't stop there. I'm also interested in the people and for this reason my strongest interest is in cultural travel.

How I've organized this site
I've set up web pages for all the places that either my wife or I have visited. Friends have also shared pictures from their trips to the region. I have also included a page for Latinos in the United States because we have often met Latinos from countries other than the ones we've seen and have learned a lot about the cultures of these countries.
Morgan's Head, Santa Catalina (near Providencia), Colombia
Way of the Cross in San Luis, Colorado
Water surrounding Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas
Ronda, one of the "white towns" in the region of Andalusia in southern Spain
